Nurture your child’s Jewish identity at Temple Beth Israel Religious School. Students, families, and teachers connect through Jewish values and a shared heritage to build community and strengthen ties.

At our Religious School, we strive to build and intensify Jewish identity by providing meaningful opportunities for Jewish learning for children and families. We offer Sunday Religious School and mid-week virtual and private Hebrew tutoring sessions.

We provide opportunities for students and families to connect to Judaism positively with engaging and dynamic programming so as we all grow, we want to continue engaging with Judaism as lifelong learners. We are welcoming of Jewish+ and Jewish-adjacent families: there is a place for everyone.

Some middot (values) we focus on throughout the year are:

• Kavod (respect and honor)
• Derech Eretz (common decency)
• Achriyut (responsibility)
• Chesed (compassion and kindness)
• Kehillah (community)

Studies show that the strongest indicators of continued Jewish engagement from childhood to adulthood is attendance at Jewish summer camp and family Jewish engagement in the home. Our program not only encourages, but also provides opportunities for families to take on new traditions and share time-honored favorites.

When students and parents are excited by Jewish education, the connection to Judaism and the Jewish community deepens and they want to learn more. This year we are offering family social action days, a family Shabbaton in the Spring and parent programming that is connected to their children's learning.

To enroll your children or learn more about admissions, please visit our Religious School’s admissions page here.

If you or your family are facing special circumstances or challenges, our leadership is always available to privately discuss educational, emotional, religious, or financial concerns, among others.

Temple Beth Israel Religious School Mission

t.

Temple Beth Israel’s educational mission is to enrich the lives of our students, empower personal Jewish growth, and cultivate a connection to the Jewish people and community. We aim to achieve this by creating interactive learning opportunities and facilitating Jewish life experiences. We welcome all member families to register for Religious School, and all non-member families to come by, talk to us and see our school community.

Our Religious School is a welcoming and inclusive community that is open to all member family children from Kindergarten through tenth grade. Our program focuses on building positive connections to Judaism and the community with a goal that each of our learners seeks to engage with Judaism throughout their lives.

TBI does not deny any child due to financial constraints. To support education for all our children click here. If you would like to apply for support or for more information about Religious School please contact:  Susanna Grant, Director.

About Our School

Our school calendar follows the Fresno Unified and Clovis Unified calendars, including all three-day weekends and other holidays. We observe Jewish holidays on the reform calendar.

Family celebration programs are held several times throughout the year, including two Havdallahs, holiday celebrations on Sundays, family park meet ups and we encourage families to participate in social action projects together.

Each class is responsible for helping to conduct a Shabbat service throughout the year. Class services begin at 6:30 and are open to the entire congregation. The Sixth Grade does a morning Shabbat service in preparation for b'nei mitzvah. Participation in the class service is a high point of religious school!

Our TBI program relies heavily on our numerous teen assistants and teachers. We are very proud of our teens for their continued support and participation in Religious School. They make wonderful role models for our younger students.

Member and non-member families are invited to visit our school and experience it for themselves.
